3G data cards & their client apps

I use an Orange UK 3G mobile office card (MOC). It comes with a rather natty client for the [Windows] PC which allows you to control it. However, i've never had much joy getting the Orange client application to work reliably. It's also got a strange way of abstracting actual network connections away from the user, so I don't really like it.

Instead of having to use that client, open up Network Connections. In here, you'll see a dial-up connection for each 'profile' that the client has created. There will probably be one called 'internet.3G-GPRS'. Double click on that to connect to it - and therefore the internet - directly, without having to use the Orange client software.
