Yet to see if it fixes issue, but others have told me that it does.

Works on Centro too.
I used the file:/// [three slashes!] method, and you also need to escape out any spaces; "my ringtone.mid" would of course be "my%20ringtone.mid" in browser URL.
The folder can of course also be the SD card location; file:///mysdcard/ringtones/nice%20music.mid
Sorted.
Apart from the fact it doesn't support MP3, like any other phone on the planet.
